Generating energy efficiently
Lubmin, near Greifswald, is where the new cogeneration plant that WINGAS launched together with E.ON Energy Projects in 2013 is in operation. This combined heat and power plant generates about 47 megawatts (MW) of useful heat and 39 MW of electrical power – enough energy to supply 50,000 households for a whole year. Another of the plant’s great assets is its flexibility: thanks to its extremely efficient gas turbine, it can be fired up to full-load operating capacity in just ten minutes. Thus, the CHP plant in Lubmin can balance out fluctuations in the electricity grid from renewable energies and help secure a reliable supply of energy.
