Fluctuating commodity prices for oil and gas

Kassel. The mood on the commodities exchanges is fluctuating. Production cuts by the oil-producing countries are influencing the markets, as too is the increased production of wind and solar energy, or a rising demand for natural resources due to a significantly growing world population. The question that ultimately concerns all the market players is: When will what happen?

The cover story of the current issue of GASWINNER explains how global trading of natural resources such as crude oil and natural gas works, which factors affect the pricing, and how price stability is achieved. In addition, a detailed info graphic shows how the prices for natural resources have developed in the past years.

The magazine also reports on the growing importance of liquefied natural gas (LNG) as an alternative fuel. Stricter emission regulations and increasing environmental protection specifications ultimately demand a shift in thinking – especially in the maritime industry and in freight road transport.

The German Federal Government has also recognized the advantages of natural gas-fired combined heat and power and is subsidizing it. Across Germany, municipal utilities are investing in environmentally-friendly district heating. The GASWINNER editorial team visited several municipal companies and found a number of interesting projects there.
