6th international storage conference in Kassel
Storage facilities are a vital part of a secure supply of natural gas, alongside diversified import sources and transmission routes, liquid trade markets and domestic production. In the last few decades the European gas industry has responded to the decline in domestic gas production and the rise in gas imports by expanding natural gas storage facilities.
Experts from the world of business and science will meet at an international industry conference on the safety and efficiency of underground storage in Kassel from 6 - 8 October to discuss supply security in Europe and technological innovation for storage facilities. The conference is being hosted by WINGAS GmbH, RAG Rohöl-Aufsuchungs Aktiengesellschaft, VNG – Verbundnetz Gas Aktiengesellschaft (VNG), OAO Gazprom, OOO Gazprom Export and their subsidiaries astora GmbH & Co. KG, VNG Gasspeicher GmbH, OOO IOGT and OOO Gazprom PKhG. As well as numerous presentations, the programme offers a technical excursion.
The WINGAS subsidiary astora is one of the largest natural gas storage operators in Europe. It owns the natural gas storage facility in Rehden, the largest in Western Europe with a capacity of 4.4 billion cubic meters, and a stake in the gas storage facility in Haidach (Austria). In addition, astora is currently building a cavern storage facility in Jemgum on the German-Dutch border.
