SEFE Securing Energy for Europe (SEFE) announced a new leadership team led by Dr Egbert Laege in his role as CEO of the SEFE Group.
With the positions of Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) and Chief Sales Officer (CSO), SEFE fills key positions in its new leadership model. The appointment is the result of the company's fundamental transformation and an essential step towards the further integration of the SEFE Group. The three positions at the core of the Management Council's central governing body enable integrated cross-divisional management and underline SEFE's strategic focus on its core European business.
Dr Egbert Laege was appointed Managing Director of SEFE Securing Energy for Europe (SEFE) by the German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) – acting as fiduciary – in June 2022. Egbert Laege spent 25 years in energy and commodity trading across various senior and executive management positions in power and gas trading, asset optimization, strategy, and commodity exchange business. From now on, he takes over the CEO post of the SEFE Group.
Furthermore, SEFE announced the appointment of Frédéric Barnaud as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) and Matthias Peter as Chief Sales Officer (CSO) of the SEFE Group.
Frédéric Barnaud has more than 25 years of experience in the gas and oil sector and served as Group CEO and CCO for various large global energy players. He joined SEFE Marketing & Trading (SM&T) in 2022. He is responsible for Trading & Portfolio Management and will further foster SEFE’s global sourcing in his new role.
Matthias Peter has been working as Head of Sales for WINGAS for more than five years. With his many years of experience in sales and his broad knowledge of the energy market, he will centrally manage SEFE's European sales activities.
“The nomination of Frédéric Barnaud and Matthias Peter brings relevant skills to the table required for the long-term success of the business. I look forward to working together with this excellent team on leading SEFE towards the future,” says Dr Egbert Laege, CEO of SEFE.
As members of the SEFE Management Council, Dr Egbert Laege will jointly with Frédéric Barnaud and Matthias Peter be responsible for fulfilling our strategic vision: to secure gas supply in Germany and Europe and to drive the green energy transition. The Management Council is to be supplemented by the additional positions of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief Information Officer.
