Successful Silver rating: With its environmental and social standards, WINGAS is among the top 25% of companies around the world that were evaluated in this category this year.
Kassel, December 7, 2020: The acceptance of social responsibility in the interest of sustainable business – known as CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) – is becoming ever more important in global economic relations, and for WINGAS. Sustainability is becoming increasingly important for companies in an intense competitive environment, because purchasing decisions for a supplier depend not only on price, but also on sustainability criteria.
EcoVadis, which is active internationally, uses a uniform corporate accountability rating to evaluate suppliers’ sustainability records and publishes the evaluation results on its collaborative online platform. Companies can connect with one another on this platform and view their suppliers’ results and score cards. The CSR rating concerns not only adherence to regulations, but also the integration of environmental and social needs in business activities. The evaluation method covers the four areas of Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement on a scale of 0–100 in the respective categories, and is based on international CSR standards.
WINGAS has undergone the evaluation by this recognised and independent evaluation platform since 2017, and is always determined to continuously improve its performance.
The stricter verification requirement for evidential documents, and more stringent evaluation system, were both new this year. In addition to the past CSR award levels Bronze, Silver and Gold, EcoVadis newly introduced Platinum (the best 1%), which has caused a shift in the allocation of points and made it more difficult to achieve a higher overall rating.
The results for 2020 speak for themselves: Despite a stricter point system, WINGAS has once again won the EcoVadis Silver Badge. This means that WINGAS is one of the top 25% of companies worldwide that were evaluated in this category by EcoVadis.
