Successful rating: With its environmental and social standards, WINGAS ranks among the top 30% of over 35,000 rated companies worldwide.
Kassel, December 17, 2019: Assuming social responsibility in the sense of sustainable management - CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) for short - is becoming increasingly important in global economic relations and for WINGAS. Sustainability plays an increasingly important role in an intense competitive environment, because purchasing decisions for a supplier are no longer made solely based on price, but also based on sustainability criteria.
The internationally operating and independent EcoVadis SAS, based in Paris, checks suppliers for their sustainability performance and makes the evaluation results available on its collaborative online platform, where companies can network and take a closer look at the results and scorecards of their suppliers. The CSR rating is not only about compliance with regulations, but also about the integration of environmental and social concerns into business activities. The evaluation method covers four areas: environment, labour & human rights, ethics & sustainable procurement on a scale of 1 to 100 in the respective categories and is based on international CSR standards.
Since 2017, WINGAS has been subject to the audit by this recognized evaluation platform and is always careful to continuously improve the topic of sustainability in the company. "This type of evaluation offers many advantages, as it gives our customers maximum transparency and allows them to compare several suppliers regarding CSR aspects. This also has a direct benefit for us, as we no longer have to answer individual supplier questionnaires for each customer, which tied up some resources in the past," explains Marcus Mentel, Head of WINGAS Natural Gas Sales Germany.
The evaluation result this year is again impressive: EcoVadis awarded WINGAS the silver badge and thus the second highest rating. This makes WINGAS one of the top 30 percent of companies worldwide rated by EcoVadis.
